For me, only The Fall are better than Wire when it comes to post punk. That said, I entirely disagree with your opinion about Entertainment, Urban. To me it's one of the freshest and most rewarding post punk albums, and I think Gang of Four's sound is anything but a borefest - they really did...

lots of hate for singles here. i think that the 'real thing' is kind of lame - you'll never pop in a cd just to hear two or three remixes. but digitally - that's a whole different story. gathering a bunch of singles from a band you really like and throwing them on shuffle can be quite nice...

just because people only remeraber one hit does not mean that the band is a one-hit wonder, that's just not how the concept works. a one hit wonder really only has one major hit. usually some kind of hokey, cliched, and incredibly annoying song that gets overplayed for a summer. like this...
