I remeraber some chick I used to hang out with, making a point about the difference between their debut CD, and the Meteor (whatever the hell the name is) one, and that Meteor was way too techno for rock music. Too me, alot of their songs kinda dragged on and kinda changed subjects half way through.

Agreed. So while there will never be a reunion with Burton, Newstead did great while he was in Metallica. Burton was only there shortly, due to that bus accident. Jason was key to alot of the songs, and I also agree about his backing vocals.

I don't think any band in particular ended the Hippie movement. More the fact that they themselves moved on and got themselves a life. If I was forced for an answer then I'd say Heavy Metal in general.
