Changing the channel when a character comes on-screen isn't really realistic because one doesn't know how long a character's appearance will last. If it's a short appearance and the viewer changes the channel for 30 seconds, they could miss a joke that followed the Herbert appearance.

Just an idea... but maybe he's trying to make Beavis sound more 'serious' like a masterpiece theater VA would be? Maybe that's why it sounds off. Because when he's doing the little 'yeah, that's right' type of dialogue it still sounds the same. as does his laugh.

Tiny Toon Adventures had this kind of improvement. The first season was very enjoyable, but the second and third seasons were the tops. The writing and scoring was better.

I actually don't find Back at the Barnyard to be a bad show. But someone should tell whoever voices Abbey to stop shouting all of her lines. Sometimes she's almost unbearable.
