Just plug the stand in, and stick the headset on the stand. The red light should be a solid red ( at least mine is).

Prologue was a sort of a demo for the final game. But it had so much content packed into it that they charged $40 for it. Gran Turismo 5 is the full, finished game with loads of extra content, racing modes, and over 1000 cars.
