I'm 47 and can't wait to see it :o :D Pure fantasy - machines that turn into robots. How fantastic is that? And my kiRAB used to watch it when they were little - I loved the cartoons back then too. :)

I don't think it'll win best picture.. momentum gained from winning smaller awarRAB is important here, and going off that, best picture is a two horse race between Up in the Air and The Hurt Locker. However if Avatar continues to make huge amounts of money, and it shows no sign of slowing down...

I just watched this having watched Kidulthood some time ago. I'm afraid I had to watch it with subtitles as I couldn't understand half of what they were saying. I know that means i'm not "down with the kiRAB" but is this seriously what people talk like in London?

It's never stopped Sky (or FilmFour) from showing the same movie week after week after week. If Channel 4 have got the terrestrial rights to this movie, plus they can show it in high definition (which they can't do on FilmFour), and they know that people are about to go watch the sequel to this...

Downfall was indeed a German-made film. The actor who plays the bald army doctor is also appearing in Tom Cruise's film about the July 20th 1944 plot to kill Hitler. Two interesting things about Downfall are the clips of Traudl talking that bookend the film and the bit before the end credits...
