It's not meant to let the staff show creativity it's meant to pad out the story so it doesn't pass the manga. If the staff decides to be creative with it... that's an amazement as it is but...

Saw this on Sat night, have to say I really enjoyed the film, not the best adaption of a book I have ever seen, but I liked it.
