I do not think Downton would be as interesting if set in a country home in 2010 - so I assume that is the reason that they set it in 1912. They did not set out to create an historical re-enactment but a drama. As for getting the period "right" no contemporary drama gets even its own period...

I saw this with some mates last night and about half the group thought it was great whilst the other half, including myself, were a tad underwhelmed. A good solid action thriller but I found it a little too predictable and derivative tbh 6/10
