Having recently missed a couple of films on C4/Film4 which were on at 2am, I thought there might be a blog or website or newsletter that might highlight upcoming films or series.
I missed out on the first series of Spiral (Engrenages) so I'd hate to miss anything decent in the future...
mmm Jessica Alba.
I thought it was a pretty decent summer blockbuster, although what little plot it had was silly, and the bad guy was totally crap. Good special effects though, nice the Thing make-up and Jessica Alba too :)
for what the killers do (poppy nu-wave-disco-punk) i would say they're at the top of the game. Check out "bloc party" for sure though. they're pretty damn great. Also, "dogs die in hot cars" has a somewhat similar sound. Be warned that their singer has a rather obnoxious voice though.
Odd. Last I heard (which was earlier today) JJ Abrams had 'revealed' that the teaser would be in the form of a 70's / 80's style home produced film being made by some teenagers on Super-8 which when they watch back shows an alien. Also that this was a prequel to Cloverfield and was not the...
I have just had an e-mail from blockbusters saying they have NO films avaliable that are in the 50+ list! and it's mostly non mainstream films, a lot of them are things like films by Ingmar Bergman.
Not one they have!?!?! find that very hard to believe.
Perhaps we need to fully define 'critically acclaimed' (Empire or The Sun?). Anyway:
Road to Perdition (completely stuck up its own backside. Jude Law was good though)
Gangs of New York (ditto. Seemed to be made knowing critics would wet themselves)
Titanic (Boring. Do you think in 90 years...
I dunno if he's the saviour of modern horror, but I have to say that I thought Hostel was brilliant. The second one was a big fish, though - total carp.
It's an excellent film imo. One of the best i've seen in quite some time. It's back to basics. Little or no wires or special effects and full on fighting action. Just proper kicking, punching and breaking of limbs.
A little like Ong Bak in that respect.
Ip Man 2 was disappointing though.
I was just about to post that, he was very convincing though!!
I suppose if they had filmed it as 'A Day in the Life of Colin Farrell and a Phone Booth' then it would have been rated '18' :D
I've seen the trailer every time I've been to the cinema in the past month but I still can not wait.
The only other film I saw the trailer countless times for was Watchmen, which didn't bother me either.
