Really? I liked Vertebrae but found some of the progressive elements to be somewhat awkward at times and the black metal sound that defines Enslaved's music seemed to be lacking in some songs. I think the new album is much better in this regard and it's slowly becoming my favorite Enslaved...

You should give The God Machine a listen, they only released two albums in the early 90's and they're both sprawling epics. They were kinda early contemporaries of Tool.

I'm not sure what scene your referring to, there isn't much of one where I live, but Chiodos isn't too bad at all. They're not one of my favorites but they are worth listening to.

Really? "My Ass Is On Fire" is okay but I've always considered it one of the weaker songs on that album.
