What about the poor folks like me who can't see 3D films because of eye problems. :( I certainly hope 3D isn't going to become the standard. I refuse(!! :p) to buy a pair of 3D glasses just to be able to view a film in 2D, which is all a pair of 3D glasses does to me.

Why wouldn't it be pro american film. The clue is in the title. It's a patriotic feel-good film about how America saves the world from global destruction. For me it's a wonderful piece of sci fi escapism.

Because generally the remake is a poor imitation of the former simply made to cash in on the original.
