I wouldn't say its all that weird, its a gorgeous song, almost a lullaby actually. I think if you put it into the context of the electro music they were compared to with that music (Aphex Twin, BoarRAB of Canada) it comes off as far less weird. Just depenRAB on the context i suppose.
