Ok, so I flashed the prl to the phone, called cricket and gave them esn and they activated it on their side. My phone will not OTA. Could someone walk me through manually programming my phone? It would be greatly appreciated.

No you can use Java but not Brew for both carriers. Java should work fine, even with Cricket's proxy in play. Use the v3m WAP settings here in the forums.
