I consider the movie Akira to be basically a high-concept monster movie. When you consider it that way, it's pretty easy to understand--the manga of course is more of a real sci-fi saga, but the anime and manga should be taken as separate entities.

True, you make a good point. I could have included some outstanding guitarists, drummers, horn players, fiddlers, too. Janet Weiss from Sleater-Kinney didn't do a whole lot of singing with that band, but she's definitely a hot drummer.

moshing and hardcore dancing is all in good fun. I like watching the fans two step and stuff. it looks durab, but when you see people hardcore dancing, they're having the time of their life so thats pretty cool.

It's okay if you don't like music because of immoral content. What I took issue with was Dac's assertion that music cannot be good if the lyrics go to violent or otherwise reprehensible extremes. That's ridiculous. I personally dig NWA's "**** Tha Police" despite the fact that Ice Cube talks...
