    Memories of YuYu Hakusho

Please, whether you think we should keep an open mind is NOT your call to make. I'm not looking for a slightly different experience. I want my stuff to remain the same and that's in english (I don't want to read my tv. If I wanted to read I'll go read a manga). Let us enjoy our experiences the...

    Encouraging songs

"Right Here, Right Now" by Jesus Jones helped me through a really tough time when I was in my early teens. The lyrics are about the fall of the Berlin wall but somehow they also really work in a more general uplifting way for me. "Hoover Dam" by Sugar is another one that's helped me through...

Do dub opinions go both ways?

luckily one of my frienRAB did live in japan and was part japanese her opinion on sub v dub thing seems to be consistent Don't get people to dub for the country of where the cartoon, movie, or what not is going to be aired because it will suck. She goes ad nauseum concerning this and it isn't...

    Albums You're Digging II

Junkyard - S/T Brian Baker of Minor Threat & Chris Gates of Big Boys try to record their own version of Appetite For Destruction. Typical average late 80s sleaze rock but the track 'Hollywood' is wonderful. Shame their punk roots didn't show through a little better. Fatal Microbes - Violence...

    Albums You're Digging II

Another Posies fan here - first encountered them in the Hype! documentary doing "Throwaway" live and really loved that song. I agree with you about Failure and enjoy its brighter, cleaner sound and non-stop hooks. Dear 23 is a great record as well.

    Best social protest bands?

Do ya mean who's most effective in whatever their political/social aims are? or banRAB that happen to play social protest music that's actually good. I'd say most banRAB that are strictly protest based groups are usually ****e, with the exception of the Crass...otherwise you should read books...

    Weekly Music Trading Post

No problem story...glad you enjoyed it. anticipation sent me The Furthur Adventures of Lord Quas: Quasimoto I really enjoyed the album. It had a really nice underground hiphop vibe all the way through and seeing that it's from madlib I'm surprised I never heard it before. My only criticism...

    Unpopular Music Opinions

Well if you really liked Court and want something close to that I recommend In The Wake of Poseidon which is pretty much the same style and Lizard, which has the medieval vibe but it's more out there, if you really liked Red and want something from that same lineup try Larks and Starless, though...

    Albums You're Digging II

I like some of the Collins-era stuff, for sure. Like you said, he started to suck pretty quickly, but there are some gems. A Trick of the Tail and Wind & Wuthering are both really good, and about half of Duke is good. I still haven't heard And Then There Were Three. Abacab and Genesis are pretty...

Is Classical Music considered to be inherently superior to all else?

Zappa's good, but not necessarily the best example to use considering what your friend likes. In my opinion, you'd be better off showing him something like Yes's Close to the Edge or Jethro Tull's Thick As A Brick, but there are countless other examples that might work too.
