Never compared Wifi to EV-DO/EDGE/HSDPA because you cant have Wifi everywhere, while the rest, the entire city is usually blanketed with them. I'm quite certain EDGE speeds suck compared to the other two bands.

your data plan shouldnt affect what pages opera opens up. Perhaps your session settings are not defined correctly. Match it up with other Tmo users on hofo and see if it's correct.
