Problem solved, it seems. After I ejected my memory card forcing it to reload built-in theme, etc. and then put it back in - everything works again. Strange, eh? Now I know what to try first...

I don't have your phone. I have N73. From my phone, I open the messaging -> then Options-> Settings-> Other -> Memory in Use -> memory card.. This is the way I set up for my phone..maybe you can check it out if they are the same

I'm not sure how the N95's battery meter works but on my N80 it would display max bars for most of the day... then as soon as it dropped a bar, the rest of the bars would go really fast. So it became pretty clear that as soon as it dropped a bar that meant low battery heh...
