There are three or four versions of Android that are official: Standard Android, Android + SenseUI (on some HTC phones), Android + Rachel (on the Sony Experia X10), Android + MotoBlur on some Motorola phones (not the droid). You don't have any of those unless you fall into the category below...

Yes there are ways but honestly, I'd updated firmware on several different phones and never had a problem. If you set the phone down and then don't touch it through the process, you're fine. just don't start jacking with the thing.

I can get it in reg cam mode but as soon as i press to switch to video mode i get a black screen....i just have to push end a bunch of times to get out of it. And if i want the camera back i have to reboot the phone! I don't get the phone undates that often but when the phone was new the video...
