You need to take the car to an expert and have the fuel pressure checked. Since the service light is not on, it sounds like the fuel pump is ready to expire. It's not GM's fault the fuel pumps go bad, it is the lazy owner of the vehicle that refuses to change the filter and stresses the fuel...
