Slinger, Especially when you're folding Gromacs your CPU-temp can go up quite a bit. For me this was a serious problem as I'm addicted to "silent computing" too, having a low airflow rig etc. When you fold (and you should when you have your rig running anyway), keep an eye on those temps...

Get another opinion. I know when I was young we used to call it blood poisoning. The red line going up the arm was the same thing that happened to my dad. Sounds like some sort of infection...get to a place that can treat it.
