An excellent summary of the endings there MDX, couldn't have done a better job if I'd tried! I too love the alternative endings, and would have prefered the other version of the film without the soldiers, that unfortunately gives the theatrical cut a sort of disjointed 'film of three parts'...

Try The Banquet if you like Wuxia type films ocox, it's not as good as the likes of Hero but still has some scenes worth seeing.
