I saw it last night in Brighton, absolutely loved it. It's not a scary film on the Friday the 13th or SAW line, like the ITN clip with the interview with Dieter Laser pointed out, but it is certainly sick and disturbing! I await the DVD release, just a month away.

When Alien was first show on tv the director was less than pleased as many scenes were just a balck screen with mood music. Later, on dvd it was much better.

absolutely love lost in translation, for all the reasons given. helps that i've been to tokyo, and could certainly relate to the sense of being out of place. it was a beautifully evocative piece of cinema, perfectly capturing the loneliness, disorientation, and mundanity of a westerners...

Saw this today, and whilst watching it I got a bit bored, mainly due to the flashbacks that were kind of overly long. But by the end of it I absolutly LOVED it and can see why the flashbacks were there. I think i'm going to go back and see it again now that I know what the pacing of the movie...

It's understandable that he turned the money down because giving his own money is clearly a big part of what he does. Being given a cheque suddenly takes away that from him.

That's ok :) I suppose the chance of it being spoiled for those who have read the books is not about the plot being revealed but about the interpretation, i.e. finding out which parts of the story have been included, are there extra bits, how have they made it look, what kind of tone have...
