personaly i doin,t care for either have owned both but if i had to make a choice i would go nissan

if both transmission and transfer case are in neutral you should be ok as long as we are not talking a long trip on the interstate.

i cain,t tell you what the fault codes are but if you call a ford dealership i am sure someone in there maintenance department would gadly help you.
