    question about spiro and bcp

Junestar, this thread is from 2008. It may still be active, but I don't know. I just started on Spiro too though. My doctor didn't give me a hard time about Birth control, but I have been married 13 years and my husband had a vasectomy 12 years ago after our daughter was born. She knew I don't plan...

    Spiro healed my acne

Some people break out during pregnancy, but for others pregnancy naturally balances their hormones and they get clear skin.So who knows, maybe it will be good for you :) I think I may have had a few breakouts early in my pregnancy, but was pretty clear after that the rest of the time. Has your...

Combo of Doxycycline, Duac, Tretinoin - starting today

SounRAB like you have a good dermatologist.:) She is right, you should be fine once you come off the Doxy.A study showed that people who used topicals and an oral antibiotic were still seeing clear skin a year after quitting the oral antibiotic while still using the topicals.

The emotional effects - how to deal

I'm surprised you haven't been prescribed an oral antibiotic.Perhaps topical isn't enough to get the infection. How long have you been on the topical? Also,to help answer your original question, there is a good book called HEALING ADULT ACNE by Richard g. Fried. It has a whole section on the...

Has anyone used Clindamycin topical solution?

Akndy86~ If your dermatologist told you to take them at the same time,it must be ok.Mine has also prescribed things together that I have read really shouldn't be used together and I have never had any problems. Perhaps the website means not to use them at the same time of the day.Perhaps one...

    Is this cystic acne?

Have you tried ZENO yet? They have this new Zeno called Hot Spot which is only like 30 dollars (but it's disposable, only last about 60 treatments).Anyways,Zeno works pretty well for those annoying pimples that don't seem to want to come to a head.It either makes them come to a head or makes them...

    Bad breakout, please help!

Sorry about your break out. A few things... Sunblock has been known to cause breakouts.I avoid any make up that contains it.While I do apply it to my body,I prefer a hat to cover my face. Also, anywhere that has a lot of humidity could make break outs worse potentially too. The Ocean,I have...

What's the best way to treat my type of Acne?

If you can,go back to a dermatologist.Retin-A is NOT the only thing that they can give you.Retin-A didn't really help me either,so don't think you are beyond help here. I would ask to try Differin gel.For some reason people who have no luck with Retin-A,they do better with Differin.A good...

    acne and weight gain

Pregnancy can effect thyroid hormone levels. It is possible that your body will readjust on it's own,but You may want to have your thyroid checked for Hypothyroidism.Hypothyroidism can cause weight gain even though you are barely eating, bad skin, feeling cold and tired all the time. Are you...

    Spiro healed my acne

I've been on it about 6 months.Started on just 25mg,and then after 3 months went up to 100mg a day. I noticed a difference like right away.I haven't come off of it at all,but I do notice any kind of dosage change sometimes causes a brief break out. My skin was so oily before and now it is not...

Has anyone used Clindamycin topical solution?

Salicylic acid is fine too.It helps the skin to absorb acne meRAB better. The Bp keeps you from building a resistance to it (clindamycin) though. It dosen't matter when you use the Bp.It doesn't have to be at the same time.

    acne

The closest thing to a "cure" is Accutane. It is hard to get though because of the potentially serious side effects. It is usually used as a last resort after you have tried other things first (Benzoyl peroxide, topical retinoiRAB,topical antibiotics, oral antibiotics, chemical peels,laser...

Healthy 23 year old baffled by recent acne

I totally understand how you feel and I went through something similar in my mid to late twenties (I'm now early thirties). I never really had acne as a teen either, and always felt blessed.I think I would have preferred to have it then, instead! Welcome to ADULT ACNE.It's not just for kiRAB...

Whiteheads out of control! Please help!!

Well, hello.I'm in my early thirties and started with acne at age 27,so I know where you are coming from. A few things, you mention the skin is SUPER dry. What are you using on it? Make sure if you are using a moisturizer that it says won't clog pores. My experience is that dry skin CAN indeed...

Has anyone used Clindamycin topical solution?

HI,I have used it.It works best when used with Benzoyl Peroxide because the BP keeps you from developing resistance to the Clindamycin which is a topical antibiotic. It worked well for me for a while,I hope it helps you.:)
