I defined modern 'era'. What has changed in music since Queen or Ozzy or anything from the eighties. Pop? nope. Rock 'n' Roll? nope. Blues? nope. So nothing new has happened thats goona go down in history, from that point of view they are modern.

I don't see why Aerosmith, the White Stripes and the like are being mentioned. Sure you may not like them but it's pretty obvious they have accessible tunes that a lot of people can and do like.

I grew up with this album... and I found a vinyl copy of it out there on a vinyl collectors' site and bought it (though it's pretty worn). I bought it mostly for the great version of "Granada", but it is a well done album with a mixture of variety of spanish music styles -- they blend it well...
