Should i give it a couple of days to charge or is something wrong with my apple because the yellow charge light is not on. I haven't charged it in months because I had to buy the charger and also bought another battery. What should i do?

I just got my battery today and I was wondering how long does it take for the yellow lights to come on to let me know its charging?
