    How can I receive surround sound from stereo?

    Is it possible to receive surround sound to a cable TV from a DVD upscaling player which is a HTIB(home theater in a box) with 5.1 surround? But it's possible connecttion is stereo only, with the red and white, and I can't receive surround in cable TV, only on the DVD player when I watch movies...
