I used redsn0w to jailbreak and unlock my iPhone 2G running on 3.1.3, but when I pop in the T-Mobile SIM card it does not accept it. It tells me to connect to iTunes, and when I do that it says the SIM card is not compatible. Do I have to download an app through Cydia or something?

My iPhone 2G shows the volume constantly, not only when I change the volume on the side. It will sometimes cut off my phone from ringing. I want to know if there is a way to completely disable the display of the volume via Cydia or anything.
