I am really frustrated. I just don't know what book to get. Please help.

I want to put pics on my walls but have 2 questions. 1. Would it be better to print out pictures on regular paper or photo paper? 2. Would regular tape last long and be safe for use on painted walls? (I don't want to have to take the pictures off in the future and have paint coming off the walls.)
