I have a css file that is 1024x768 and im trying to shift something over to the left without gaining any width whats the correct way to comprimize this code?its an image with a hyper link attached to it...but every time i put in this code left; 50px it makes the whole thing wider how do i stop...

driving me nuts!! help!!? ive been trying to make a perfect image background size for myspace and all the other sites im on but everytime i do it comes out tiled or in 2 big images so i think i keep doing the wrong size can someone please help me thanks!!
