    Can I make gifs in Photoshop CS5 from .avi files?

    I'm trying to make gifs in Photoshop CS5, and only .mp4 videos seem to work when I open them. When I open .avis, all I see is a white block in the size that the video would be. Do I have to convert my .avis to .mp4s in order to make gifs? If so, how do I do that? I didn't think this would be...
