Thanks spotdog. The user guide just says the light is for missed calls & messages, so I guess it makes sense if it doesn't always work with email. I really only care about missed calls and voice/text messages anyway, so it's perfect! If you like simple little addicting games, you should look...

I had the same problem on my unit. Unfortunately even after restarts and a hard reset the problem still persisted. I had to send the defective unit back, and should be receiving the new one this Friday. I guess there's a serious problem with this model.

This has happened to several people with 2100 UMTS phones on T-Mobile here in my area. T-Mobile is testing 3G in several areas as we speak, so you might have received the uplink on 2100. Too bad the downlink is 1700.
