Was pre-90s American animation ever serious?

In a way, so was B:TAS, come to think of it. Most of the characters were comedy acts in one way or the other, Bats himself being one of the few exceptions. Looks to me like American action cartoons have always had a comedy bent, it's just that what constituted "serious" for a TV series has...

The Cleveland Show gets a second season pickup

Rollo is funny, but that scares me because do we really need another series with a smart baby carrying it on their own? I'm hoping they don't go the slutty black teenage girl route with the daughter but I'm getting a Haley vibe from her. I did think the Jennifer Aniston line was funny and I even...

Any Way to Clock "fastest possible?"

Yes 115000 is fine. I remember that being the fastest possible for some reason (limitation with the Palm serial port I believe) but there's no need to worry about errors. If there were any errors in data transfer, the software would realise and get the relevant frame retransmitted. I wouldn't...

Back-up my Tungsten T with my Workpad c3

Hi I use my Tungsten T the most but would want to use my workpad c3 as a backup (I had problems synchronising with Outlook the other day and almost lost all my 5 year-all calendar data !). I am using the Palm desktop version that came with the Tungsten T. How can I save the data from Tungsten...

What toon villans would be the most threatening to our universe if they were real?

How about Unicron from Transformers: The Movie? He can suck a whole planet and destroy it!

Blog Talkback: Toons of the 2000s: Bottom 5 Cartoons

Seems like a pretty fair list, although people have posted some other good suggestions in this topic. The only one I'm not quite sure about is Mulan II - I mean, yeah, it misses the point of the original movie, and yes it's totally inferior, but I'm not so sure it qualifies as one of the "bottom...

I have never seen The Goode Family but this news is not that surprising to me

A Skunk Fu flim is in the work

Apparently, when an animated series reaches 52 episodes, it is deemed worthy of a feature film...at least to some animation studios. But we've only got 13 episodes right now.

TMNT: Back to the Sewer Talkback: Episode 3.04: "The Engagement Ring" (Spoilers)

Looks like they're taking the deleted ending from TMNT and continuing it here.

Original animation openings vs. montage openings

... I just said why not. The only reason Japanese TV shows do it is because they need the funding from bands to make the TV shows (except for the ones that don't, like Pokemon, which just has VAs from the show sing a lot of the opening/ending songs) Which is why most of the time Japanese theme...

New "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel" Trailer (Oct 1st)

You know I was about to say "No Chippettes? This trailer is fail" until the "suprise" came up. And I think that song is going to top The Chipmunk movie's "Gettin' Lucky" in terms of creepy factor. :D Looks to be the same as the first except in high school. Should be fun if anything. (For...

Fox Ends "Sit Down, Shut Up".

They were already completed since those episodes had to have been done since it was part of the season 1 episode order. FOX is just choosing not to air them. I can't say I'll miss the show at all. It did not look like it had more potential to be better even with additional seasons.

How come so many people are hard on today's cartoons?

Nostalgia, mostly. I'd personally say we never had any really good cartoons until the 2000s, and I grew up in the 80s and 90s. I mean, I thought Power Rangers was good as a kid, and after watching the reruns Disney is pumping out recently, you realize just how easily entertained kids are.

*The Nokia e90. The end of symbian series 80?

S80 is dead - I dont remember seeing an official announcement, however I read in several places that since the new version of symbian is not 'compatible' with previous versions, so the few apps that were created for the S80 would not work with a symbian 9.x version of S80 - so in addition to...

    N73 Or N73me

I found that I'm actually using the phone's music feature now that I have a usable music player. Other than that, though, really, there's not much difference. It's kinda annoying to have to manually close the music player after every reboot, and for some reason, I have to restart Handy Taskman...
