    I cant get my Windows Media Player to play .avi files, why?

    Whenever I try to watch a movie from my external hard drive, Windows Media Player opens but only the adio plays. The video is of the "skins". My brother said it was because my WMP isn't updated but I have WMP 11, and they still won't play????
