Discovering a film for yourself; is it the best way to see a film?

I watched "Chocolat" by accident and thoroughly enjoyed it! Same with X Men 3. I hadn't read anything about these films prior to watching them and they happened to be on so I watched them. Really enjoyed them both!

    The Lake House

The mailbox is never explained, that's the supernatural element of the film I guess. I saw it months ago on Sky - and only caught the end last night on BBC One. I think I'm going to have to watch it again to fully understand.

    Forgotten "classic" film stars

All brilliant actresses but maybe not as well remembered as the big names as they were never leading ladies. Actually I think Agnes Moorehead will be remembered more than most, but because of "Bewitched" rather than her film work.

    Japanese/Asian Horror Films

I'm also a huge fan of Japanese horror. I think they have their own distinct atmospheric style from other horror around the world and imaginative storytelling. They are usually creepy, suspenseful and have genuine scares using a unique visual style. Although I think it's slightly overused, that...

    General feeling of unwellness

given the fact that you were in a malaria area, shouldn't you see your doctor? A blood test may tell you both what's wrong. If you could see an infectious disease specialist, that would be your best resource for an accurate diagnosis. Of course you could also be jetlagged.

How long into a film can you tell whether or not if you're going to like it?

Probably within the first few minutes, but definitely by the end of the first half hour. Mum, on the other hand, will watch an hour and a half of a 2 hour film and then decide she doesn't like it enough to watch the ending!
