What's to understand? I admit that I didn't get that it was one of the scientists at the end on first viewing, but other than that it's simple enough. I think it's a great film.

To be fair to the stinking pile of turd this film is, it is because the army guy in the baskets noticed that he had the grenades and grabbed him to pull him back after he'd set them off. He was about to save them, so they saved him in return...
