    why are games slow and choppy on my pc?

    why are all 3d games like rollercoaster tycoon 3, the sims 2, and flight simulator 9 running slow on my intel celeron 2.40 ghz pc? I have a gforce fx 5500 graphics card and 768 mb of ddr ram. Please, could someone help me? And please don't tell me to get a new pc
