i took it to auto zone and they gave me the troubleshooting code P0442 and told me that the Evaporative Emission System had a small leak/no flow condition... does anybody know if this is serious and how much would it cost to get it fixed or if i can do it myself?

I was driving towards a ramp to get on the expressway and my light was green. A guy on his bike got in my way and i tried to stop but it waz raining so my car hit his bike and he fell off and got a fracture on his leg. Do I have a chance or am i going to have to pay for his hopsital bill?
