    96 chevy blazer only starts if I put gas in carb first?

    Have a 6 cylinder chevy blazer it runs great as long as I put gas in the carb first to start it not sure what to check. fuel pump seems to work changed fuel filter. been going on for almost a year now Would not replacing the thermostat have anything to do with it not starting.
