Do you happen to have any traffic monitoring or shaping software running? Like CFOS or Netlimiter ? Any AV with antispyware? I had a similar problem sometime ago and it was due to some sidebar gadget. or post a hijackthis log here. It should make it easier to spot.

This thread seems to be ancient, but here goes my recent experience with open tracker checkers, hope you find it useful. http://www.trackerchecker.org - good number of entries, but lacks any filtering whatsoever, which makes it practically useless. Unless you are looking for a specific tracker...
