Avenged Sevenfold were classified as punk/death metal, their music is great but i believe they lean much more to death metal. City of Evil is going to clarify that, in my opinion. Have to say that Children of Bodom dwelling at the top of my metal list along with Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian...

Yup, no worries. I voted Satriani considering this is meant be based on technicality as well composition. Normally, composition takes the top priority for me though. Aside from that, I would normally vote for John Frusciante, Hendrix, Satriani, Mustaine, Brian May, Dimebag or Akerfeldt.
