    why do new episodes of sitcoms not air weekly and regularly after new years?

    i'm currently watching how i met your mother, i get irritated that the new episodes do not come on tv weekly... like this time, there's not going to be any new episode for TWO whole weeks! WHY, i would love to know.. thx in advance
