    It almost sounds like you're saving the file in some sort of non-text format; what app are you using to edit the file, notepad? On Windows I recommend Notepad++ or ConText (but free, open source) for text editing. I know my PLS file(s) are saved with unix end-of-line formatting, not DOS.
