we say "i was, she was, he was, that person was" as you can see, all the singular subjects use "was" for the past tense of "to be". HOWEVER "you" uses "were". even if we were talking to one person, we still use "were" for this subject. why is this so?

so what do you guys talk about to your girlfriends or boyfriends? i have nothing to talk about with my boyfriend, and we are in a LDR. he's on the quiet side so how do i create conversations with him naturally?
