I do not have a cable connection in my room but downstairs. Is there a way I can watch cable TV on my laptop with some kind of USB receiver ? Would appreciate any help

I am getting crazy. I have THE NEWEST DISPLAY DRIVERS ALL THE PLUGINS K-LITE...... DIVX but all of my Mediplayers: VLC, WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER SHOW ONLY A BLACK PICTURE WITH SOUND THIS IS IN ALL PLAYERS FOR ALL .AVI FILES. I have all the plugins and codecs installed 100% sure. Display drivers are...
