My front derailleur cage is moving as it normally does. But the gear stay in the mid chain. does not chang to 1st or 3rd at all...i am having hercules atom with shimano gears...please help me....i bought it in trichy at a shop called popular auto agencies

I am having a Hercules Atom Bicyle, 18 Speed Gears. 3 on the front and 3 on the back. Once i was moving my cycle on the stairs( only 3 steps)... When i reached ground, my front derailer does not work anymore.. Oh and they are SHIMANO...
