I have the sony ericsson xperia X8 and i would like to update it to android 2.2. I know sony have not announced that they will not be updating it. I want to have a flash player. Do i need to root it. Will i still be able to use the android market if i use froyo or something

I have tried reconnecting it many times. But a message keeps popping up and saying "does not recognise". Any know what to do? It worked about a month ago.
