my phone recently received the android 2.2 update but it was recalled. it is now only available on the samsung website but than includes resetting your phone to get the update. how should i back up my phone to get this update and should i do it?

I have the face book application on my iphone but whenever i connect to the chat it wont send messages and im not sure if its even showing that im online so my friends can see me. I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem or knows how i can get it to work. i have the iphone 3G not...
