    I have a mythic. Yes, you can use the keyboard in 9key mode and you are also allowed to use handwriting to input text.

    Sign up for a genius bar appointment at your local apple store and see if you can get it replaced. Be polite and respectful to the representative and if they're nice you'll get a free screen replacement out of it.
