Do you know of anyone, adult or kid, who has a doll house? If so, make a really long (24" to 36") braid with three strands of yarn. Fold one end over about an inch. Coil the yarn around the folded piece, keeping it flat. Sew it lightly together as you go. This makes the coolest oval braided...
Delta Brand Jewel Glue is the best for this. I do not know if you can get it in the UK, however. If not, I recommend any jewel glue or gm glue. They are specifically designed for holding porous and non-porous surfaces together, so they work on both. Most glues are good for one or the other.
