we hav ea 2005 jeep liberty that makes noise like it threw a rod or a something. can you repair a broken rod from under the engine without taking of the top components???

van does not want to start. turned it off the night before and the next morning it would not start. I cranked it over several times and it fires sometimes but not enough to start. timing belt is ok. i did not open the distribuitor or checked the spark plugs. but I thought it may be the coil...
